KAMBWILI GUILTY. SENTENCING ON JUNE 4

KAMBWILI GUILTY. SENTENCING ON JUNE 4

Former Information Minister under the PF regime Dr. Chishimba Kambwili has changed his earlier plea and admitted guilt in a case involving failure to appear before immigration officers.

The court has set this Thursday, 4th June as the day for sentencing.

Dr. Kambwili was arrested on October 22, 2025, while in prison custody.

He was accused of failing to present himself to an immigration officer for exit clearance before travelling to Zimbabwe for medical treatment, contrary to Section 16(1) of the Immigration and Deportation Act No. 18 of 2010.

The law requires every person leaving Zambia to appear before an immigration officer and obtain the necessary exit clearance.

When the case first came before court, Kambwili pleaded not guilty. However, when the matter was called today, he changed his plea and admitted the charge.

JUST TO UNLOCK YOUR

Dr. Kambwili is contesting this year's mouthwatering August polls as a Member of Parliament for Roan Constituency under Harry Kalaba’s Citizens First party.

If jailed, he won't be able to participate and with the passing of Bill 7, there is no provision for fresh nomination  - everything will go as planned.
