The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) says it will begin coordinating presidential campaign activities through an official timetable to avoid clashes and ensure a smooth election process.
In a statement, ECZ Chief Electoral Officer Brown Kasaro said the Commission has become concerned about the increasing movement of presidential candidates across the country without a coordinated campaign schedule.
He explained that while candidates are free to continue with their planned campaign activities until June 19, 2026, all future campaigns will be guided by a timetable to be agreed upon with the Commission.
Mr. Kasaro announced that the ECZ will meet all 14 presidential candidates on June 22, 2026, to develop the campaign schedule. Once agreed, the timetable will be used to organize presidential campaign activities for the remainder of the election period.
The Commission says invitations will be sent to all candidates, and political parties should attend the meeting together with their Secretary General and Election Agent or Chairperson for Elections.
According to the ECZ, the new arrangement is meant to promote fairness among candidates, reduce the risk of campaign conflicts, and help maintain order during the election period.
The Commission has since called on all political parties and candidates to support the initiative and work together to ensure peaceful and credible elections.Or, for a stronger headline and more impact:
ECZ Introduces Campaign Timetable for Presidential Candidates
Presidential candidates will soon have to follow a campaign schedule set by the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) as the country heads towards the August general elections.
The Commission says the move comes after concerns over the way campaign activities are being conducted across the country, with fears that overlapping programmes could create tension among political parties.
ECZ Chief Electoral Officer Brown Kasaro said candidates may proceed with their current campaign plans until June 19. After that date, presidential campaign activities will be regulated through an official timetable developed by the Commission.
To prepare the schedule, the ECZ has called a meeting of all 14 presidential candidates on June 22. Political parties will also be represented by their Secretary General and Election Agent or Chairperson for Elections.
Mr. Kasaro said the timetable is designed to ensure fair access to campaign opportunities, improve coordination, and preserve order during the election period.
He urged all political parties to cooperate with the Commission and respect the agreed campaign arrangements in the interest of peaceful and credible elections.

Official campaigns started on 23rd May 2026 but most presidential candidates have not yet reached the climax. Brian Mundubile has only held two mega rallies, in Kitwe and Kabwe with the next reportedly to be Eastern Province.
On the other side, President Hakainde Hichilema has not yet began holding rallies as reported by State House media saying he was still visiting party structure to brief all adopted candidates across 10 Provincial headquarters, the objective he concluded 2 days ago in Choma.
