The Registrar of Societies has informed Miles Sampa that his request to replace Robert Chabinga as the listed office bearer of the Patriotic Front has been forwarded to Mulilo Kabesha, the Attorney General, for legal guidance.

In a statement shared on social media by Miles Sampa, the Registrar of Societies says: "The office of the Registrar of Societies acknowledges receipt of your correspondence and matters raised."

It further adds: "You may kindly note that the matters have been referred to the office of the Attorney General for a legal opinion as per legal practice in Government. You’ll will be notified on the next case of action once the matter has been considered and guidance has been given by the Attorney General."

However, the statement gives no timeline, making it unclear when Mulilo Kabesha will provide guidance.

This also indirectly confirms that Robert Chabinga remains the acting president of the Patriotic Front, which could be one of the reasons the Given Lubinda–led PF convention may face further delays.

Meanwhile, Patriotic Front Presidential Aspirant, Chishimba Kambwili says the Party should consider holding its General Conference after 27th March 2026 after the expected final ruling in the high court of the application for the Consent Judgement.

Miles Sampa is seeking to have Robert Chabinga replaced as PF president following the 3rd March court ruling that found Morgan Ngon'a was not the legitimate PF Secretary General. Ngon’a attempted to appeal the decision, but Conceptor Chinyama Zulu dismissed the appeal, noting that he had failed to prosecute the case since 2024.

For now, the future of the PF hangs on the Attorney General’s decision - whether he will advise the Registrar to amend the office bearers or maintain the current status quo.
