The Government has released K49.1 billion in June 2026 to finance public service delivery, service debt obligations, support vulnerable households and fund key infrastructure projects across the country.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Finance and National Planning, K34.9 billion of the total amount was allocated to debt servicing and the dismantling of domestic arrears, while K5.5 billion went towards the public service wage bill and related obligations.
The Treasury also released K4.2 billion for transfers, subsidies and social benefits, including K1.5 billion for the Social Cash Transfer Programme, K1.1 billion for grant-aided institutions, K610 million for Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects, and K300 million for the Food Security Pack Programme.
A further K3 billion was allocated to government operations, including K200 million for the Electoral Commission of Zambia's preparations for the 2026 General Elections and K345 million for gratuities for former Members of Parliament.
Government also invested K1.4 billion in capital expenditure, with funding directed towards road infrastructure, education, water projects and mini hospitals. Additionally, K209.7 million was released for geological mapping to support mineral exploration, while K40 million was allocated to the Lusaka South Multi-Facility Economic Zone to boost industrial development and attract investment.
Secretary to the Treasury, Felix Nkulukusa, said the June budget releases reflect Government's commitment to balancing fiscal discipline with social responsibility while investing in programmes that improve the lives of citizens.
He said the releases will help sustain macroeconomic stability, protect vulnerable households, create jobs and strengthen Zambia's long-term economic growth.
